Research Interests
Aaronβs research concerns the environmental impacts of geoenergy techniques (e.g. geologic carbon sequestration and unconventional gas development) with specific expertise on subsurface fugitive gas migration, environmental fate and impacts on groundwater.
Biography
A hydrogeologist by training, Aaron received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Birmingham (UK) before working in industry for several years. Subsequently Aaron attained his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark, undertook a 3 year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Guelph (Canada) before founding and serving as the Director of the Energy and Environment Research Initiative (www.eeri.ubc.ca) at the University of British Columbia (Canada). Aaron has published more than 20 scientific articles and technical reports on various aspects of geoenergy and potential environmental impacts. In addition he has 9 yearsβ experience leading the establishment of and managing research at geoenergy focused field research stations.
