2019 – current: Visiting Research Associate, British Geological Survey – work includes analysis of ground gas and gas flux from Glasgow Geothermal Energy Field Site and evaluation of analysis techniques and assisting with development of an award-winning brownfields decision support tool.

  • Pore structures of fluvial and aeolian sandstones.
  • Pore-scale effects on fluid-flow in porous media, particularly the effect of discontinuities.
  • Linking pore-scale processes to reservoir-scale impacts on fluid transportation.
  • Subsurface reservoir modelling.
  • Use of the subsurface for energy generation and storage, particularly underground hydrogen storage and low-enthalpy geothermal energy.
